DIOVAN (valsartan) is a prescription drug that lowers high blood pressure in patients. It is also indicated for the treatment of heart failure and reduces the risks for patients who have had myocardial infarction.

DIOVAN is not for use in children less than 8 years of age.

Contraindications:

Interactions:

Do not take DIOVAN without first talking to your doctor if you are taking other prescription or over-the-counter medicines; including vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.

DIOVAN may also interact with any of the following medicines or substances:

• Other medications for hypertension or heart problems.
• Diuretics.
• Potassium supplements.
• Salt substitutes.

You may not be able to take DIOVAN, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you are taking any of the medicines listed above.

Side effects:

DIOVAN may cause adverse reactions including hypotension and kidney problems.

Other more common and less serious DIOVAN medication side effects include:

• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Flu symptoms.
• Tiredness.
• Abdominal pain.
