DIFLUCAN (fluconazole) is a prescription antifungal medication, used in the treatment of:

• Vaginal candidiasis or fungal yeast infection.
• Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis.
• Cryptococcal meningitis.

DIFLUCAN is also used as prophylaxis for patients undergoing bone marrow transplants and receiving chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Contraindications:

Do not start DIFLUCAN medication without first talking to your doctor if you have or have had the following conditions:

• Hepatic injury.
• Pregnant.
• Breastfeeding.

If you have any of the conditions listed above, you may not be able to take DIFLUCAN, or you may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment.

Fluconazole is in the FDA pregnancy category C, which means that it is not known whether these will be harmful to an unborn baby, or whether these can cause adverse effects on nursing infants.

Interactions:

Do not take DIFLUCAN without first talking to your doctor if you are taking other prescription or over-the-counter medicines; including vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.

DIFLUCAN may also interact with any of the following medicines:

• Other antifungal agents.
• Terfenadine.
• Cisapride.
• Oral hypoglycemics.
• Coumarin-type anticoagulants.
• Phenytoin.
• Cyclosporine.
• Rifampin.
• Theophylline.
• Terfenadine.
• Astemizole.
• Rifabutin.
• Tacrolimus.
• Short-acting benzodiazepines.
• Oral contraceptives.

You may not be able to take DIFLUCAN, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you are taking any of the medicines listed above.

Side effects:

DIFLUCAN side effects commonly experienced include:

• Vomiting
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Diarrhea

If you develop allergic-type reactions, stop taking DIFLUCAN and seek immediate medical attention.

Side effects other than those identified here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any DIFLUCAN side effect that seems unusual or bothersome.

Storage:

Store DIFLUCAN Tablets below 30ºC (86ºF).
