COZAAR (losartan potassium) is a prescription drug used to lower high blood pressure or hypertension. It also reduces the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.

COZAAR can be used to slow the worsening of diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

Contraindications:

Interactions:

Do not start COZAAR medication without first talking to your doctor if you are taking other prescription or over-the-counter medicines; including vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.

COZAAR may also interact with any of the following medicines:

• Potassium supplements.
• Salt substitutes with potassium content.
• Diuretics.
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

You may not be able to start COZAAR medication, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you are taking any of the medicines listed above.

Side effects:

COZAAR side effects may include:

• Colds.
• Dizziness.
• Stuffy nose.
• Back or chest pain.
• Diarrhea.
• Tiredness.
• Low blood sugar.
• Low blood pressure.

If you develop allergic-type reactions, stop taking COZAAR and seek immediate medical attention.

Dosage:
