Catapress TTS is a prescription transdermal system that is used in the treatment of elevated blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and decreasing heart rate. Catapress TTS provides continuous systemic delivery of clonidine for 7 days at an approximately constant rate and may be used alone or with other medicines.
Catapres is also prescribed by physicians for alcohol, nicotine, or benzodiazepine (tranquilizer) withdrawal; migraine headaches; smoking cessation programs; Tourette's syndrome (tics and uncontrollable utterances); narcotic/methadone detoxification; premenstrual tension; and diabetic diarrhea.

Contraindications:

Do not use Catapress TTS without first talking to your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:

Side effects:
Most adverse effects are mild and tend to diminish with continued therapy. Consult with your physician if any of these more common side effects become persistent or bothersome:
Dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth or throat; headache; lack of energy; mild skin irritation; tiredness; trouble sleeping.
Seek immediate medical attention if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; decrease sexual desire or ability; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; mental or mood changes; severe or persistent headache or dizziness; skin irritation; rash, blisters, burning, or color change at the application site; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet.
Contact your physician or health provider if you develop any other side effects than the ones listed here.
Dosage:
Apply the patch to a hairless area on the upper outer arm or chest once every 7 days. The area chosen should be free of cuts, scrapes, irritation, scars, and calluses. Do not shave the area before applying the patch. Do not place the patch on skin folds or under tight undergarments or any other area where it may come loose. Each new patch should be placed on a different skin area other from the previous areas. Change application sites as prescribed by your physician. Continue to use Catapres TTS Patches even if you feel well.
Missed dose
If you miss an application of Catapres TTS Patches, apply it as soon as possible.
Overdose
Seek immediate medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
Storage:
Store Catapres TTS Patches below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C). Store in original packaging until just before use. Store away away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep Catapres TTS out of the reach of children and away from pets.
