ALLEGRA -D (fexofenadine hydrochloride and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride) is a prescription drug that contains two active ingredients: fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine. It is indicated for the relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, itchy nose/palate/throat, itchy/watery/red eyes, and nasal congestion.

ALLEGRA -D is prescribed for adults and children 12 years of age and older

Contraindications:

Do not take ALLEGRA-D without informing your doctor of your sensitivity to its formulation: (active) fexofenadine hydrochloride and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride; (inactive - 12 Hour) microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, carnauba wax, stearic acid, silicon dioxide, hypromellose and polyethylene glycol; (inactive - 24 Hour) microcrystalline cellulose, sodium chloride, cellulose acetate, polyethylene glycol, opadry white, povidone, talc, hypromellose, croscarmellose sodium, copovidone, titanium dioxide, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, brilliant blue aluminum lake, acetone, isopropyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, methylene chloride, water, and black ink.

Do not take ALLEGRA-D without first talking to your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:

• Narrow-angle glaucoma or urinary retention.
• Diabetes mellitus.
• Thyroid problems.
• Severe hypertension.
• Heart disease.
• Kidney or liver disease.
• Sensitivity to adrenergic agents or other drugs with similar chemical structures.

The existence of these conditions may require your doctor to prohibit, make a dosage adjustment or call for special monitoring while taking ALLEGRA-D.

Fexofenadine and pseudoephedrine are in the FDA pregnancy category C, which means that it is not known whether these will be harmful to an unborn baby, or whether it can be passed on through breastfeeding.

Interactions:

Do not take ALLEGRA-D without first talking to your doctor if you are taking other prescription or over-the-counter medicines; including vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.

Do not take ALLEGRA-D without first talking to your doctor if you are receiving monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor therapy, or within fourteen (14) days of stopping such treatment.

ALLEGRA-D may also interact with the following medicines:

• Over-the-counter antihistamines and decongestants,
• Heart medication,
• Caffeine, amphetamines, or diet pills,

Do not take ALLEGRA-D close in time to taking antacids with aluminum or magnesium. These antacids may decrease the effects of ALLEGRA-D.

Side effects:

ALLEGRA-D side effects are most often mild and uncommon. On rare occasions, patients may experience:

• Headache.
• Nausea.
• Dry mouth.
• Agitation.
• Anxiety.
• Palpitation.

Discontinue use and advise your doctor if you experience:

• Nervousness.
• Dizziness.
• Insomnia or sleeplessness.

If you develop allergic-type reactions, stop taking ALLEGRA-D and seek immediate medical attention.

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is bothersome.

Dosage:

Take ALLEGRA-D exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Frequency and dosage varies with type of condition. Take ALLEGRA-D on an empty stomach. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not chew or break the tablets.

Take each dose with a full glass of water. Fruit juices such as grapefruit, orange and apple may reduce its full effect.

Overdose may lead to any of the side effects mentioned above.

Storage:

Store ALLEGRA-D between 20-25°C (68-77°F).
